away from home

in the abscence of any communication from Girl1, we are forced to conclude that she is happy and thriving without us.

I’m not attached to my phone just in case. Really I’m not.

*whisper: I’m lying*

  1. Maybe it’s just – like a certain member of our household – that the phone has been lost ithin a ludicrously short time of arrival in those foreign climes?? Or doe that make things worse??

  2. Awwww. Even when mine stays over at a friend’s house, I’m not content unless I’m getting texts and pictures every hour on the hour. Not really, but that actually would please me …

        1. for another week! we’re going to see her on Sunday, when I will be the most embarrassing mum in the village ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. Oh lord … so mine is taking a summer COLLEGE class in Art. Off she went yesterday morning with all her supplies in the big black portfolio bag, and I just wanted to run after her but she would have been mortified ..”Mooommmmm!!! Stay in the car.”
Still, I couldn’t resist sending a “I’m bursting with pride” text. I know. I am RIDICULOUS.
Oh, and by the way, where WERE all these open displays of affection in, oh, 1973??? in Northern Ireland?? ๐Ÿ™‚

          2. Her art is great; the college (!!!!) course will be wonderful for her ๐Ÿ™‚
Can’t imagine we’d have allowed any such displays outside the home either ๐Ÿ˜‰

          3. That is so funny, isn’t it? Also, I don’t think I would ever have let Sophie go to the wee shop by herself. The original hovering helicopter parent!! When we were wee, we were allowed to wander all over the place and only went in when we were called in for our dinner.

  3. I always loved that song. Very witty. And I’m sure Girl1 is getting on fine. The bears are quite friendly round there, I’ve heard.

what do you think?
